Concluding with some curious Phænomena exhibited upon it in a darkened Room; and a few select Paradoxes ... Addressed to the young Gentlemen and Ladies of Great Britain and Ireland. London: "Printed for S. Crowder, and Co. in Pater-noster-Row; and S. Gamidge, Bookseller in Worcester," 1762. 4to (293 x 195mm). Engraved twin-hemispherical map of the world, the title printed in red and black, 5 engraved maps, 3 of which within hand-coloured yellow borders, engraved plate of "The Terrestrial Globe", illustrations and diagrams. Contemporary calf-backed boards (very worn, upper cover almost detached, lower cover detached). Provenance: Mary Ann Roberts, Worcester (old armorial bookplate); "White '65" (old signature on the front free endpaper followed by a poetic quotation beginning "Useful knowledge can have no enemies ..."); "Ode to the Sun ..." (old poetic inscription on the rear endpaper). With two 18th-century manuscript exercise books of arithmetic, accounting, quotations, etc., in contemporary wrappers, one signed on the upper wrapper "Tho. Bamber. His Book ... 1774", both folio (340 x 220mm). (3)
