Original black cloth, the spine lettered in gilt, grey endpapers (the gilt lettering on the spine slightly abraded in places), the dust-jacket by Richard Taylor with the price of $5.00 unclipped (some staining to the internal edges). Provenance: Frank Dowse (signatures in purple ink to the front and rear endpapers). A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. A printed note at the end states: "Two thousand five hundred copies of this book have been printed from Linotype Garamond by the Collegiate Press, The George Banta Company, Menasha, Wisconsin. The paper is Winnebago Eggshell. The binding cloth is Holliston Black Novelex." Please note that the original dust-jacket has been photographed in its modern protective archival Mylar wrapper, thereby avoiding any risk of damage through its temporary removal.
