Gillett & Bland was established in the early 19th Century by William Gillett in Hadlow, Kent. In 1837 the business moved to Clerkenwell; and in 1844 to Union Road, Croydon, where it would remain for over a hundred years. Charles Bland became a partner in 1854 and in 1877 the partnership expanded with Arthur Johnson joining, when it became Gillett, Bland & Co.
CONDITION REPORT
The clock is ticking and striking and the movement appears well cared for. The clock case would benefit from a clean and wax to bring forward its lustre. It’s carrying case has lost a moulding piece to the left side and the rear door key end is broken off. The lock is not the original.
