The case with a bell top, surmounted with five urn finials, above a moulded cornice, the hinged door flanked to each side by a caryatid mask above foliage, enclosing an arched brass-outlined glazed panel, the sides each with a brass carrying handle and cast grille panel, the 7 1/2in arched brass dial, signed John Prior, London in the arch between two subsidiaries for strike/silent and regulation, with silvered dial plate and pierced blued steel hands, the twin train wire gut fusée movement with verge escapement, foliate engraved rectangular backplate chiming the quarters on eight bells
