Barry Cawston’s work has a very painterly feel in both his use of
colour and choice of subject matter. He is particularly influenced by
Edward Hopper and found this very Hopperesque scene in the South of
France.
The Spaces in Between series developed out of visits to Naples in Italy and Havana in Cuba, two cities whose past glories are suffused with a faded grandeur. Cawston’s search for these lost spaces of distressed beauty have taken him from Bristol to Burma, Mexico to Manaus. Often with rich colours and a cinematic feel, these lost corners have an ethereal beauty.
C-type print mounted to aluminium with UV matte seal.
